Scientific Computing Associates and Compaq Partner to Provide High Performance Computing Solutions for ProLiant Servers
elpt
July 3, 2024 - New Haven, CT. Scientific Computing Associates, Inc.,
providers of Linda®, Paradise®, and Enfuzion® middleware products used
for distributed and parallel computing application development and
processing, today announced that it is partnering with Compaq Computer
Corporation's Linux Beowulf Clustering Solutions Initiative.
SCIENTIFIC, under this agreement, will provide certified solutions on
Compaq's ProLiant line of Intel servers and associated storage
subsystems. (www.compaq.com/newsroom/pr/2001/pr2001061802.html.)
Founded in 1980, SCIENTIFIC has pioneered the commercial use of parallel
and distributed computing. With its introduction of Linda in the
mid-1980's, the Company was the first to offer to businesses a
cost-effective, packaged commercially supported product to harness the
potential of supercomputing. Its years of research and design in the
area of distributed computing finally culminated in a new model, a
Virtual Shared Memory, which was realized in the Linda family of
products. Linda was the first commercial product to implement VSM for
single computers and large workstation clusters.
The Company's expertise and ongoing research into these fields include
various government contracts, and development and marketing partnerships
with numerous companies. SCIENTIFIC specialized in applying new ways of
thinking to interesting and challenging problems. It provides an
enterprise-wide framework for building distributed systems across
networks of computers. The intent is to leverage existing or new
ProLiant server infrastructures or clusters. Customers will save
hundreds of thousands of dollars in hardware expenses in dealing with
applications which before were designated only for supercomputer class
machines. SCIENTIFIC's suite of parallel development middleware helps
reduce development costs and speed delivery of complex problem
solutions, allowing software developers to focus on their applications,
not on time-consuming and expensive cluster enablement.
Martin Schultz, Founder of SCIENTIFIC, in signing the Solutions Alliance
agreement stated, "It is time for clusters industry standard servers to
take their place in parallel computing. The power and
cost-effectiveness of such clusters will revolutionize the use of high
performance computing and create new operational paradigms in business
and R&D. In working with the industry leader, Compaq, we feel very
fortunate to be a part of their High Performance Computing initiatives."
